Now there are two ways to review a game like Watchdogs 2. 1. Compare it to the most over hyped game in the short history of the ps4 the original watchdogs or 2. Pretend that game doesn’t exist and review this game as its own entity and like any good reviewer I’m going to do both.
Now I thought the original watch dogs when you stripped off the hype and gave it a chance was a good game but everything that watchdogs did wrong Watchdogs 2 does a lot better; The game in general just has more life to it! The choice of San Francisco as a city is more diverse, colorful, vibrant and alive.
One of my biggest problems with this game is starting to be a trend with Ubisoft games the Ai in this game all seem to have superpowers and know exactly where I was if I got detected even if I wasn’t spotted this is just so annoying when you spend time carefully infiltrating buildings and facilities.
Another problem I have is they let you feel a certain way about Marcus and for the most part he is a good kid but then giving me the option to pick up a fully automatic weapons and plough my way through security guards and police officers that are just doing their job just feels so out of place. (But I guess it is a video game “shrug”) Maybe they could have thought of other ways to handle this.
WatchDogs 2 gets a lot of stick for the multiplayer being unreliable and weak but I found it really fun and it kind of pulls you in; You may be on the way to a mission but when that bounty pops up it’s so hard not to hunt down an chase another player for 9 blocks then unload on them with an AK after finding out the are hiding in a crane with the Dedsec drown.
Is it worth the platinum?
Probably one of the easiest platinum’s on the market which is a little disappointing as you just generally expect an open world game like this to have a slightly harder list to complete.
Better than the original but still doesn’t deliver on the promise that the 1st watch dogs said it would, BUT there is no shame in having this game in your collection it’s a fun ride! The assassins creed 2 of the watchdogs franchise.
To Buy or Not to Buy?
Not at full price but worth getting whenever you see it on sale.
